Knee Surgery

A few days after arriving home from Omaha, Daryl went to an appointment with a knee specialist. His knee had been bothering him off and on, but it's been getting increasingly worse. The doctor twisted it and moved it to see what he could find. Dr. Sharpe told us that Daryl had torn something in his knee and the only way to fix it was surgery. He said it would be out-patient surgery and Daryl would need to stay off of it completely for the next two days, and then be on crutches for a week or two.
The surgery was done this past Friday at a surgery center next to Banner Gateway (the new hospital). While he was in surgery, I left to fill the prescription for his pain pills. The entire procedure took about an hour, and then they monitored him for another 30 minutes or so before letting him go.
Shortly after we left the hospital, we road up with some of his family to the cabin for the weekend. Don't worry, I was a good little wife and made sure he didn't get off of the couch unless absolutely necessary. (If you know Daryl at all you know that this was no small task.)
Friday night and Saturday morning were really hard for him. His pain medicine wasn't helping at all. After talking to the doctor, and working things out, I was able to give him something a little stronger. We love percaset!! (however you spell it). He fell asleep for a few hours Saturday evening and woke up a new man! He didn't need much medicine after that. We rode home in his parent's truck Sunday afternoon.

He's still on crutches some. Yesterday and today he drove himself to work (in spite of my protests), and worked in the office on computer stuff. He has a follow-up appointment next Wednesday, the 2nd. I'll keep everyone posted.

Now, I just have to make sure that he doesn't over do it. I swear he thinks he's invincible! Even Superman has weaknesses.

Road Trip!!

The first week of June, the three of us took a two-day road trip to Omaha, Nebraska. Along the way, (Friday night), we stayed in Colorado Springs, and had dinner with a friend of Daryl's. It was good to see her and finally meet her little girl. Kent and LanaMarie blessed baby Wesson the following Sunday. It was so great to be there with them.



The following Monday, a large group of us drove another 6 hours to Nauvoo, Illinois. We were able to go through a session in the Nauvoo temple. It was so amazing to be there and feel of the spirit and history there. We also saw Carthage Jail, Joseph Smith's red brick store, and many other homes and businesses. One of my favorite places was called Pioneer Pastimes. There were lots of different pioneer games and toys to try. Daniel would have loved it... but he fell asleep before we got there. When we tried to go back, it was closed for the day. Daryl really liked the blacksmith shop and especially the gunsmith shop. I have to admit it was pretty cool. We also did a little window shopping , and bought a few souvenirs and a pioneer hat for Daniel.

On our way back to Omaha, we stopped in Adam-ondi-amen, Far West, Liberty and Independence. What a humbling experience this was for me.














On the way back from Independence we added a little excitement to our lives. A tornado touched down on the highway where we were driving. The three of us and Levi, drove in our car behind Aunt Lanae's van. There were a few time when we could hardly see the tail lights of their van. It was raining harder than I've ever seen before, and then we drove into hail. Apparently sirens went off, but I never heard them. Daryl told me later that we caught a small section of it. I freaked out. We arrived safely in Omaha late that night.

The next morning we all took a trip to the Omaha Zoo. Everyone was excited to see the new butterfly pavilion. There were butterflies everywhere we looked. I couldn't take pictures fast enough. There were even some one the path so we had to watch where we stepped.

Daniel's favorite part was the monkeys. He wanted to seen them every chance we get. A little brown one (I forget the name of it) came down and sat on the railing right underneath him. He almost grabbed it's tail. He jumped back into the tree just in time. He loved it.

Baby News!!!

I had my ultrasound yesterday. We are having......... A GIRL!!!! Yeah, I'm so excited. Daniel will have a little sister soon. Now we just have to get some girl stuff. Haha

Famiy Car Wash

Two weeks ago, Marily, Amanda, Jeremiah and I all gathered at my house for a family car wash. Marily brought pizza and Amanda picked up some sponges and soap. After we ate, we vacuumed the inside and washed the outside of all 3 cars. The kids had a blast playing in the yard in our baby pool. Eventually the decided the mud puddles were just as fun. After several hours the cars, and children, were all washed and dried, and the day was over. We all had a great time!!
